Currency advice: Berlin

BackTextsizePrint
2/1/2010

Berlin (and Germany in general) isn’t as “card-orientated” as Sweden is. That’s why it’s handy and reliable to change part, or all, of your spending money to Euros before you leave.

There are, however, plenty of ATMs in Berlin. Withdrawals within the EU are free of charge, but the card-providing bank does have the right to add a currency conversion fee. When withdrawing money with FOREX Bank’s Visa and bank card, the fee is only 1% of the amount – which is one of the lowest fees on the market.

The absolute worst way to exchange money in Berlin is to convert Crowns to Euros in a bank or bureau de change – your money will start disappearing unnecessarily!
