FOREX Bank often comes into contact with forged money. In most cases it is customers who have accepted money in change in good faith abroad, mainly in Euros, Dollars and Pounds in different denominations. But recently we have been aware of a rise in forged Chinese 100 Yuan notes.
The trend is that counterfeiting is becoming more and more sophisticated. It’s a growing problem in China, despite the death penalty being levied on counterfeiting. According to a report in “Dagens Nyheter”, the Chinese authorities have so far this year exposed and confiscated forged notes to the value of SEK 900 million.
The counterfeiters have also managed to circulate Yuan notes of 50 and 20.
