The United Arab Emirates is comprised of 7 states. Apart from Dubai, there’s Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Qaiwain. They have a single currency called the Dirham (AED). One Dirham, which comprises of 100 fils, is equal to just over SEK 2.
FOREX Bank recommends purchasing AED before you leave. FOREX Bank stocks the currency, but for safety’s sake, you should make a reservation at least two working days before you want to collect it. US Dollars in both cash and traveller’s cheques (large denominations) are also good to have for exchanging on-site. But do remember that cheques cost more than cash and can also be subject to fees when cashing them in.
