For those who really want to venture out, the nearest town is almost 40km away. Excursions can be booked to the desert war area of El Alamein, an oasis, the cities of Alexandria (250km away) and to Cairo (290km away).
Bear in mind that you must have a visa to enter Egypt. You can buy it in conjunction with your trip. Visas must also be acquired for infants of 0-2 years, which can be bought on arrival at El Alamein airport. It costs approx. SEK 180 for both types of visa.
Bear also in mind that all extra things in hotels must be paid for in Euros or by credit card. Outside of the hotels you’ll be asked for Egyptian Pounds.
