Another good piece of advice (from bitter experience) is to use plastic cards sensibly and carefully. Hide the code with your hand when withdrawing money from ATM’s and preferably try to use ones in conjunction with an open bank, sometimes cash machines swallow cards!
Use your card to pay at hotels, for care hire, at larger department stores and other “serious” places – and only where you have full view over what is happening.
For small purchases, pubs and marina bars – we’ll repeat it – “Cash is King!”
