News from South Africa

On the 31st of May the older series of 200 Rand notes will cease to be legal tender in South Africa. This is due to the markets being flooded with counterfeits of this denomination. The old note has been replaced with a new one, with more built-in security details.

After this date the old note, providing that it is a genuine one, can only be exchanged at South Africa’s central bank, The Reserve Bank of South Africa. Those intending on going to South Africa, perhaps to the imminent football World Cup, can be sure that they will get current 200 Rand notes when they exchange their currency at FOREX Bank. 1 Rand (ZAR) is worth about SEK 1.05.
