A noble Zloty

Alfred Nobel is featured on the Polish 20 Zloty note, although he’s on the back. The front is devoted to the Polish-born chemist and physicist, Marie Sklodowska Curie. The 20 Zloty note was issued in November 2011 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of her receiving the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery of the elements, radium (Ra) and polonium (Po).

Marie Curie also received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903 along with Henri Bequerel and her husband, Pierre Curie, for research into radioactivity.

She was the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize, the first to have received two prizes and is still the only woman, and one of only two people, to have received the prize in two different fields.

Read more on the website of the museum which is dedicated to her work and which carries her name: www://www.muzeum-msc.pl/

The twenty Zloty note is worth around SEK 45.
