A short trip to Malta

A rather different mini holiday would be to go to one of Europe’s more remarkable countries – Malta. The island nation, almost 100km south of Sicily, has been a hub between Europe, Africa and Asia throughout the ages.

This can be illustrated by the historical relics, not least from the Knights of St John, who captured the island after the Ottomans drove them out from Rhodes.

Airtours have Malta on their list and now Ving has too, who organise package tours by regular flights from Thursday to Sunday or Sunday to Thursday, from the 31st of March to November, with a break during the heat of July and August. The hotels are in St Julien’s and Sliema, towns which lie right next to the capital, Valletta. Swimming from rocks and jetties is normal. On the island’s northern side you will find sandy beaches.
