A warning about card swindlers

As if you haven’t already noticed, there’s a new wave of false emails over Sweden. In some of these, cardholders of Visa, MasterCard and Eurocard are being encouraged to sign up to a service, SecureCode, ”to protect their cards from unauthorised use”. In the email there’s a link to click on, where you’re supposed to “fill in all the necessary details” about your card. DON’T!

Naturally this is an attempt at fraud, which can be discovered by the bad Swedish in the letter. Criminal groups want to business in your name, and the bill can be very high.

So remember the following: No card company or card-providing bank will ask you to hand over details about your name, national security or card number, CVV codes or similar things by email!
