As high as old Selma...

No – the title isn’t about a recent accusation that Selma Lagerlöf was on drugs when she wrote her masterpieces, but about a piece of news that disappeared in the hullabaloo surrounding when Riksbanken revealed who would adorn the new notes.

All the denominations in the new series will have the same height as the 20 SEK note (the Selma). In other words they will be 66mm high. The width will vary from the 20 SEK note’s 120mm to the 1000 SEK note’s 154 mm. There will be a 7 mm difference between the 20 and 50 note and 6 mm between the others,

The colour range will be the same as today’s notes. The new SEK 200 note (Ingmar Bergman) will be in a shade of green.

The new notes will find their way in to our wallets at the earliest in 2014, though most likely the year after.
