By car in France

7/2/2012

Are you planning to drive to France during your holiday or maybe hire a car? From the 1st of July 2012 a new law will be enforced. The law requires drivers to make sure that there is a breathalyser in the car. The law was introduced to try to curb the large amount of alcohol-related car accidents in the country.

Buy a cheap disposable one at a garage or at the border and keep it in the car, thus avoiding a fine of 11 Euros if you should be stopped during a police check.

There has previously been a French law forbidding the use of GPS systems with built-in warnings for speed cameras. If you should be caught with such a system, the fines are a hefty 1500 Euros!
