Currency advice for Egypt

The currency in Egypt is called the Pound, EGP. One EGP is worth approx. SEK 1.30. FOREX Bank’s advice is to buy EGP for at least the first few days and then take the rest of your money in Euros or US Dollars and change them at your destination. It’s better to have Euros for seaside resorts and southern Egypt, US Dollars for Cairo and in the north.

It’s worth bearing in mind that all extras in hotels must often be paid in Euros or Dollars, unless you can show a receipt from having exchanged EGP from an Egyptian bank.

There is a possibility of being able to withdraw money from ATM’s in tourist areas, where you are able to use, for example, your FOREX Visa, FOREX Bank card and FOREX Global cash.
