Find your own beach

The Seychelles lie in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Tanzania and Kenya, in East Africa. The country, with just over 90,000 inhabitants, is made up of around 90 islands, of which Mahé, with the capital city of Victoria, being the most important one along with, Praslin, La Digue and Silhouette. Palms with double coconuts, which look like hearts, grow on Praslin. They are called nuts of love. The strange, giant tortoises can be seen in a park in Victoria or in the wild.

Restaurants boast seafood. The thing to do on Mahé is to rent a small, open-topped car, pack a picnic and make your way down to a beach, which you may have all to yourself. The coral reefs are some of the most colourful ones in the world. If you don’t go snorkelling, you can experience them through glass-bottomed boats.
