Forged Travellers’ Cheques

Presently there’s widespread fraud going on with forged traveller’s cheques. About 20 people have been stopped at FOREX Bank in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark from changing forged American Express traveller’s cheques.

The fraud mainly concerns cheques of the denomination 500 in Euros and Pounds, which if real, would be worth approx. SEK 4,875 and SEK 5,570 respectively. Attempts to try and exchange denominations of 100 have also been recorded.

All people that have been caught with these cheques have been reported to the police. When questioned, they say that they have come from the UK.  The police carry on unravelling the matter.

The forgeries are reasonably well made but can be exposed quickly by the trained eye, which FOREX Bank’s staff have. The risk now is that they home in on other targets.
