A survey carried out by FOREX Bank shows that six out of ten Swedes have cash saved at home. In total the population has cash to the value of 18 billion Swedish Crowns lying at home.

A YouGov survey by FOREX Bank shows that 30% of those questioned have over 1000 Crowns at home. One in twenty Swedes has 20,000 Crowns or more in cash. In total 60% of people say that they have coins and notes saved up at home. Only 15% say they don’t have anything lying around at home.

The results clearly show that Swedes still use cash on an everyday basis. Men hoard more cash at home than women.  66% of men, compared to 55% of women keep cash at home. Residents of Gothenburg have most cash lying around, followed by residents of Stockholm and Malmo.

Why not deposit your cash into a savings account at FOREX Bank, with a rate of interest of 1.8% (April 2013), and you can start saving for your next holiday.
