Prague overtakes Barcelona

Prague has overtaken Barcelona for weekend breaks, according to statistics for the first 6 months of the year by travel operator Airtours. Trips to Prague have shown an increase of 24%, whilst Barcelona has remained unchanged. Palma, up by 63%, takes third place and is followed by London, which has fallen by 4% and then comes Malta, up by 41%.

Up and coming destinations on the Airtours list by popularity are: Budapest, up 67% (although not in the top ten at the moment) and Dublin. Bookings to the Irish capital have gone up by no less than 390%. This shows either that the desire to travel to Dublin is big, or there was none before – there’s that funny thing with statistics again…

The big interest in Prague, Budapest, tenth placed Istanbul and financial crisis hit Dublin reveals that Swedes gladly travel where they can get good value for their money.
