Remember the zeros?

During communist times, Poland had a hopeless economy with runaway inflation and a non-convertible currency, in other words it was basically worthless outside of the Eastern bloc.

Black market exchanging occurred regularly. After breaking with communism, the economy gradually took off and in 1995 Poland revalued their currency, the Zloty, by removing four zeros from the currency. Today their economy is strong and is amongst one of the countries in Europe best equipped to weather the current crises.

The rate for 1 Zloty, PLN, is approx. SEK 2.35.
