Using your card in Thailand

Cards aren’t as widely used in Thailand as in Sweden. Cards may be accepted at most large restaurants, hotels and shopping centres, but it’s not unusual to have a minimum card purchase level of 500 Baht at smaller establishments.

In markets, certain restaurants and in taxis only cash is accepted. It may also be worth noting that when you make an ATM withdrawal in Thailand it will cost you 150 Baht per transaction, above whatever your bank charges. The maximum amount you can withdraw is 20,000 Baht per transaction and a maximum of 50,000 Baht per day.
