What is it that mainly makes us choose a particular destination? Advertising and promotion on TV and in the papers? No!

According to a survey, which the travel agency Ticket carried out amongst its customers, there are two categories that can be combined into one, which got the most votes. Recommendations from friends/ colleagues and from family/relatives got the most votes, 44% and 35% respectively.

Otherwise the survey shows that a large proportion of Swedes seem to have found their holiday paradise with 45% in the survey (which had 13 different answers to choose from) preferring to return to the same place. Films and TV programmes were chosen in 20% of cases, whilst books inspired 14%, with the same figures for adverts and promotion. It was rather surprising to find that the choice “don’t know” was used in 6% of cases.
