Worth thinking about, traveller

1/9/2012

If you have an expired passport, or one that is about to expire, and are going to travel in the near future, you should apply for a new one well in advance. The police’s passport offices have been shut from the 23rd of December until the 2nd of January. This is due to the fine-tuning of the new system for the production of passports, that’s why many people will be waiting outside the doors at the police’s passport offices on the 3rd of January.

The new passport includes, amongst other things, a colour photo and is more secure against forgery. The price is reduced from SEK 400 to 350, including photo.

If you are a Swedish citizen over the age of 18, the only things you need to bring with you are; official ID and your old passport, if it’s still valid. You can find out more by visiting http://www.polisen.se/en/Languages/Service/Passport-and-national-ID-card/.
