Guaranteed sun and value for money

Guaranteed sun and value for money are the two most important factors when booking a holiday, according to a survey carried out by travel agents Resia. At the same time, demand for more activities on holiday is increasing – for example training, safari or cruises.

The Swedish summer, with its unsettled weather, and the number of bank holidays around Christmas have contributed to the 60% increase in the amount of bookings around Christmas and the New Year. Classic destinations like Thailand and the Canary Islands are still at the top of the list of the most booked destinations, but long-haul trips to places such as the US, Gambia, Kenya, Aruba and the Dominican Republic are on the increase. Mexico is on the list too, with a 50% increase compared to last year.

The survey also shows that Norrlanders want to travel long distances and that Berlin is the newcomer this year on the list of city breaks. Another trend that the survey shows is that more and more people are splitting their holidays, which means more weekend breaks. Barcelona, New York and London are classic favourites but Berlin is the real high-climber, taking sixth place on the list of trips made by regular flights.
