VACATION INDEX - CHEAPEST DESTINATIONS 2023, MOST VACATION FOR YOUR MONEY
Do you want your travel money to last longer? The FOREX Vacation Index lists how much it costs to vacation in 96 countries compared to Sweden. The list contains several cheap travel destinations, everything from countries nearby in Europe to Asia and America and everything in between.
THE CHEAPEST AND MOST EXPENSIVE DESTINATION
If you are looking for the most affordable country you should travel to India. Other cheap destinations are Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Malaysia. And if you are looking for a closer destination for your vacation, you will get the most for your vacation budget in North Macedonia and Albania.
And in last place? There we find Bermudas, which are by far the most expensive.

CHEAP TRAVEL DESTINATIONS IN EUROPE
If you have planned to stay in Europe during your vacation and are looking for the cheapest destinations, despite the weak Swedish krona, you should aim for Montenegro, Cyprus, Croatia, Malta, Portugal, or Greece.
CHEAP WARM TRAVEL DESTINATIONS
Among our most popular warm destinations, Thailand is high on the list, but also Brazil and Albania. Even more affordable, it is in India, Sri Lanka and Vietnam that are found at the top of the list of cheap travel destinations.
ICELAND – MOST EXPENSIVE IN THE NORDIC
The survey also shows that Iceland is the most expensive country in the Nordics to vacation in for us Swedes. Even our other Nordic neighbors Norway and Denmark are more expensive.
INDEX PROVIDES A PRICE INDICATION
Worth mentioning is that even if a destination has a low index overall, some costs may still be higher compared to a country with a higher index. In India, for example, fast food can cost more than it does in, for example, Malaysia. This means that the index should only be seen as an indication of price levels.
An index shows a price trend and compares price levels during a certain period. This means that price changes on, for example, hotels, restaurant visits and taxis can affect the index over time.
